ASA Makes Decisions on Foxy Games and Betfair Advertising
2020-10-07

ASA gives rulings on Foxy Games and Betfair ads

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned Foxy Games from advertisements for implying that consumers can gain financial protection by playing slots and bingo.

The probe centered on a Foxy Games Google Search ad that was used in July 2020. The commercial, which said "Earn Money Online – Foxy Games – Play Online," emerged while the word "making money online" was searched for.

Foxy Games was accused by the plaintiff of insinuating gambling as a legal means of gaining financial security. The ASA agreed with this decision, suggesting that consumers could attain a daily stream of income from the term "earn money online" proposed.

Foxy Games had already deleted the ad which had occurred due to human error, it added. The ASA, though, banned the ad from running in the form we talked about in the future.

Following a related investigation into a betfair commercial the ASA found that the ad was not in violation of its law.

The TV commercial used the slogan "when there’s a chance, there’s always a chance," which focused on a guy betting on boarding a plane while running.

The plaintiff claimed that, by having a man betting in a time-pressured environment, the ad depicted gambling as taking precedence in life. The ASA disagreed with this decision, arguing that gambling did not bother the individual, and that it was not proven indispensable.
