Aspire Global is Facing $1.75 million Fine from Swedish Regulators

Sweden’s Patent and Market Court for Gaming Act breaches relating to its Karamba company has fined sek 15m ($1.75m) of Aspire Global affiliate AG Communications.

Driven by Aspire's best-of-breed platform technologies and featuring titles from top app houses such as Play'n'GO, Microgaming, NetEnt, NextGen Gaming and Evolution Live Casino as well as patented ASG games, Karamba offers a wide variety of the world's most common slots, scratchcard games and live casino classics and now looks poised to accelerate its rapid growth.

Registered for video games by the Spelinspektionen, the developer was charged with ads that contravenes the enforcement provisions of gaming law.

The company was also ordered to provide specific guidelines on the free spins and compensation limitations that apply.

Karamba features an ad that promises a SEK 2,000 bonus, but players are expected to play for more than SEK 70,000 to qualify for that bonus.

In its future ads the five points of the ruling included many requests for better details from the firm, with each point carrying a weight of SEK 3m.

Sweden's business ombudsman from Konsumentverket has applauded the strong fine imposed by the Patent and Competition Court.

“It is good that the court clearly states it is not allowed to mislead someone into believing you get a big bonus, when in fact it is about having to play for very large amounts for a short time to have a chance to get the bonus or be able to withdraw some winnings,”

said Pär Magnusson, process advisor at the Consumer Ombudsman, KO.
