IBIA Publishes New Data Audit Requirements With eCOGRA

IBIA has worked with eCOGRA to ensure that all sports data processing firms adhere with the recently outlined requirements for data collection.

eCOGRA Launches New Quality Requirements Audit

The International Betting Integrity Association, known as IBIA for short, has released a new set of guidelines that will define the protocol for gathering sporting event data. Because of these requirements, organizations that now act as data collection providers must prove that they are capable of compliance with the regulations outlined.

To assess if the organization complies, IBIA will ask eCOGRA, a market research firm, to perform independent audits and to measure its results to Data Standards Kitemark. This move is a follow-up to a previous statement in May when IBIA announced it would aim to standardize the manner in which data is gathered to ensure fair market sports betting.

IBIA was especially concerned about the use of fraudulent or stylized data to manipulate betting results and confuse customers, the company claimed in the official press release.

Today we announce the publication of data standards for the collation of sporting event data for betting & open a process for all parties engaged in data collation to demonstrate that they meet those standards. The auditing procedure will be conducted by eCOGRA.

IBIA CEO Khalid Ali added in his statement that the process that the association began today will cause the authenticity and integrity of sporting event data to be maintained and that the topic should be of utmost importance to all participating participants, all of whom are existing betting and gaming firms.

Ali noted that the pandemic presented new challenges related to data exploitation, raising the need for rigorous steps to ensure "robust data chains."

“IBIA has sought to meet that integrity challenge and has put in place a set of data standards that reflects the minimum expectations of the association and its members.”

Data Collection Practices Essential To The Quality

Data collation is an important part of the wider credibility of sports betting, Ali claimed, and that is why transparency and an auditing mechanism are required. It really is the next move for IBIA, argued the CEO:

“We call upon all of those parties engaged in the data collation process to demonstrate that they meet these standards and of their commitment to protecting the integrity of the global data supply chain” .

eCOGRA CEO Shaun McCallaghan expressed his own satisfaction as part of IBIA's attempts to standardize and become an official auditing company. McCallaghan has informed the public of the competence and experience of the audit professionals employed by eCOGRA and their ability to provide a structured data collection approach.

Recently IBIA has updated its membership list, aiming to put every big brand under its roof. The company partnered up with draftkings in October, and IBIA has been a vocal advocate of implementing in-play technologies in Australia. IBIA signed with Leo Vegas in yet another latest tie-up.
