Man Wagered $5 Million on Trump's Reelection
A British businessman based offshore used a Curacao bookmaker to make a $5 million wager sponsored for reelection by US President Donald Trump.
Largest Political Bet In History Made On Trump Worth $5m
An unidentified person has put a last minute $5 million wager on US President Donald Trump in the November ballot for his reelection. The man, who is based offshore, used a private bookmaker in Curacao who approved his wager and what is considered to be the single biggest bet in history on a political race.
The businessman had contacts inside Trump's reelection effort, according to a source close to the matter quoted by The Sun, who felt assured about POTUS chances of reelection. If mystery man s wager works, the person looks at a return of $15 million.
Bookmakers Announce That Trump's Betting Handle
Ladbrokes, a famous British bookmaker commented the last week came a lot of betting pressure for Trump. In the last seven days nearly 3 out of 4 bets have been made on the incumbent, Ladbrokes Jessica O’Reilly said, adding:
“Biden looks home and hosed according to the bookies and pollsters, but even at the eleventh-hour punters are continuing to back Trump at the odds on offer.”
Another sportsbook, Paddy Power, reported that an unprecedented 93% of all money was spent on Donald Trump in the last 24 hours, even as the odds appear to back Former Vice President Joe Biden. In reality, another unnamed person made a bet of $1.30 million to win the 2020 race on Biden, the Democratic presidential hopeful.
Betfair reported that it has put bets worth some $337 million, an sum that tops all past election races, and it definitely outstrips the Super Bowl in terms of betting value.
The approximate handle outdone by far the amount wagered on the presidential race in 2016 when Trump was given much slimmer odds of victory, but he ultimately beat democratic nominee and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
In the United States, political betting is not permitted but it has gained success all over the world. Offshore bookmakers pull in good profits, too.
BetOnline, one of the leading bookmakers focused on the US market, predicts that should Trump win the race, the bookmaker would lose a total "in the low seven-figures."
