The Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which is part of the Division of Industrial Relations (DIR) , announced last week that prohibitions were released for the Las Vegas Aria hotel-casino and the Eureka Owl Club in Eureka. The monetary fines detail suspected violations of state health and safety laws COVID-19.

The punishment for Aria was $12,617 according to OSHA's article last week. The suspected infringement identified by OSHA was lack of social space at terminals used by employees at points of sale. The penalty OSHA received for the Eureka Owl Club, by comparison, was $2,950. The suspected infringement of the Eureka Owl Club has been identified as workers who do not wear face coverings or who do not wear face coverings properly.

Data disclosed by OSHA illustrated that DIR agents have carried out 9,655 inspections at different companies since June. The average approval rate for nevada is 89% based on those inspections. With that in view, OSHA has issued a total of 177 warnings and fines for violations of the COVID-19 health and safety standards to companies.

Aria's Owner's Answer - MGM Resorts

The outbreak of the COVID-19 respiratory disease caused casinos and other "non-essential" companies to shut down in Nevada in March this year. Casinos were allowed to reopen on June 4, after being shut for 70 days. The operators had to enforce stringent health and safety procedures to work safely in the COVID-19 conditions.

The owner of Aria, MGM Resorts has launched his "Seven-Point Safety Plan" to ensure the health and welfare of its guests. In addition to limiting the overall capacity of each venue, the proposal also involves mandatory mask wearing, temperature checking and other safety measures.

There is no higher priority than the health and safety of our guests and employees and nothing we take more seriously.”

MGM Resorts issued a statement in reaction to the latest sanction outlining that Aria has been working with OSHA. The company said it expects to appeal the summons, arguing that there were no violations of health and safety rules.

MGM also emphasized that the Seven-Point Safety Plan provides specific procedures for secure distancing and other essential protocols. In conclusion, the operator said its workers are highly trained and MGM will continue to improve procedures that safeguard the welfare of employees and visitors alike.
