A recent Brain & Mind Center pre-print research, School of Psychology, Science Faculty, University of Sydney, Australia, investigated the effect of signals encouraging gambling restrictions on gambling behaviour. Sally M. Gainsbury and Robert M. Heirene's analysis showed that delivering messages to consumers is an economical approach that "can lead to small but impactful increases in the uptake of deposit limits on gambling sites." Hypotheses studies involved 31,989 participants. In the last 30 days, each participant has made bets for a minimum of 5 days. The overall number of applicants has been limited to 26,516 since the test for fitness. Researchers have compiled pre- and post-messages of customer account data over a span of 90 days. There was also created a control group of participants for individuals who did not get the texts. For comparison of the outcomes the control group was tracked.

The content of the letter did not have a noticeable effect on the clients taking up deposit caps. The study observed substantial reductions in average daily wager volume by applying the outcomes of a randomly chosen customer without a fixed cap, focusing on the customers who set limits.
