World Poker Series Shows Hybrid Main Event Info

WSOP announced information for its World Championship No-Limit Hold-Em match. Main experience this year will be a mix of online and live poker games. The final match between the two best international and domestic tournament players is set for December 30th at Rio in Las Vegas.

The Prototype Main Event Of The Coming WSOP

World Series of Poker (WSOP) revealed preparations for the inaugural $10,000 No-Limit Hold-Em World Championship, known as the Main Event by the poker players and fans. WSOP announced in a statement on Friday that it is preparing to host the 2020 main event as a hybrid which includes online and live poker games. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that introduced traveling restrictions and safety protocols, the format will be special this year, WSOP announced.

The Main Event games for the foreign players at GGPoker.com will begin on November 29. The main event games for us players will begin at WSOP.com on December 13. Here, it is necessary to note that for each player only one entry is allowed. In addition, players from either Nevada or New Jersey will compete in the USA.

After day 2 of the December 14 domestic poker tournament, the play will be down to the top 9 participants. The final table will then be played on December 28 at Rio in Las Vegas with play down to 1 winner. On the other hand, on the 7th of December the international WSOP tournament will play down to the top 9 players. The remaining 9 players will then participate on December 15 until there is 1 winner at the King's Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.

WSOP Schedules The Championship Final Heads-Up Event For 30 December

Winner of the "brackets" of the domestic and international WSOP will earn different cash prizes. The two best players from each event will compete for the final heads-up championship on December 30 for a $1 million "Winner Take All" award, the Main Event championship bracelet and the 2020 World Championship crown.

WSOP has reported that regulatory approval is needed for the live matches at Rio and King's Casino. In addition, all players in the in-person competitions would have to follow improved health and safety laws of COVID-19 including health inspection before joining live games.

There must be a World Champion in 2020.

World series of poker's Executive Director Ty Stewart said in a statement the format of this year's Main Event is special but so is the year. He continued that the WSOP would keep players' wellbeing and welfare high on the agenda. At the same time, Stewart added, WSOP needs to produce a perfect televised showcase for the team.

Steve Preiss, GGPoker's Head of Poker operations announced that GGPoker is pleased to continue extending its current partnership with WSOP. He added that GGPoker is “excited to offer players access to the biggest tournament of all”, after the summer season.
