What a big letdown! The Golden Acorn is the Scatter symbol, 5 of which pay 100x the total bet, and getting 3 or more of them triggers 15 free spins with all wins doubled. More free spins can be retriggered. All the other symbols pay from 5000x down to 125x the line bet for 5 of each kind. Well, if not for the silly non-paying Wild symbol, this would have been a good paytable, instead of just being another average one.
What I do like about this Nutty Squirrel game was that the Free Spins game were reasonably easier to get than most other Microgaming games. Not only that, I also managed to get 1 retrigger in 2 of my Free Spins games, which wasn't a lot at all, but at least the retrigger came and not remained as just a showpiece, which is the usual case. The feature award you with 15 free spins and all win doubled, because the pays are not bad one would think that you could win big, but i never managed to get good five of a king. The wilds do come out a lot but never in the right places.
Over all the game is very average, and the game play is a bit boring. There are times when the game starts to tease me but i close it straight away and open it again. If that doesn't help i just change the game to another one.The graphics are not for my taste and the sound effects are not too bad. This is old game, and this is probably one single minus for it.
Microgaming has a nasty habit of providing non-paying Wilds in their games. These Wild symbols are usually either non-paying, non-doubling of wins, and are also usually dumb symbols most of the time. I really hate this. I'm not ever a fan of Microgaming, but ardent fans should be able to see just how many of the games have such dumb Wild symbols.
