So when NetEnt released this sequel, Butterfly Staxx 2, I wasn’t really interested enough to even give it a try, but I finally succumbed to my curiosity and gave it one play. Yep, just one play, just to try it out and to see how it would play and pay.

Straight off, I was very disappointed when I saw the win values of all the game symbols – they were extremely low values! The top paying symbol, the Yellow Butterfly, pays only 2x the total bet for any 5 of them, and that is absolutely ridiculous to me! On top of that, both the Wild and Scatter symbols don’t pay anything at all for their appearance on the reels, and the Wild symbol doesn’t double the wins with it either! Paying 2x the total bet for the top-paying symbol is simply unheard of, and NetEnt has now come down to its rock-bottom level!

The only good point (if you can consider this as good in the first place), is that Butterfly Staxx 2 plays with 40 paylines, at just $0.25 bet per spin. The other thing worth considering is that the free spins feature game plays with 3 sets of separate screens simultaneously, so there’s actually 3 times more winning chances, but only for 5 free spins! Argh! NetEnt is really squeezing this game, and I don’t like it at all – the Butterfly Free Spins should award 10 free spins, just as for the 10 picks awarded for the alternative Butterfly Frenzy choice, which I don’t quite like to play anyway! Yes, you get to pick either the Butterfly Free Spins or the Butterfly Frenzy whenever you trigger the feature with 3 Scatter symbols.

One look at the game symbols and anyone can see how lowly they have been valued. The Wild symbol doesn't pay anything - it doesn't even double any wins with it, much less becoming expanded on the reels. The Scatter symbol also pays nothing, serving only to trigger the Butterfly Spins with 3 or more triggers. So even if you get 5 Scatters, which would normally give you a very nice initial win, but with Butterfly Staxx, you win nothing! So how's that for a crappy new game, hah?!

Okay, so there's this feature called Butterfly Respins, whereby any fully stacked Butterfly symbols anywhere on the reels would trigger a Respin. Any new appearing Butterfly would retrigger the Respin, until no new Butterfly symbol appears on the reels. Sounds good, but in reality, it plays and pays damn poorly most of the time. There would even be times when it pays nothing! If you are expecting a nice big good win by getting lots of those Butterflies on the reels, you'd be very disappointed! 5 Butterfly symbols only pay 3x the total bet amount, so getting all 20 Butterfly symbols on the reels would only pay a blardy low 120x the total bet amount! Sheesh!

And what about the Butterfly Spins game, triggered by getting those non-paying Scatter symbols? 3, 4 or 5 Scatters award 5, 6 or 7 free spins! Yes, a ridiculously low 5, 6 or 7 free spins, and without any multiplier too! What the argh are NetEnt guys trying to do with this game? I guess they need to reap in as much quick money as possible from anyone who dares to play this crappy game! If you are thinking that I'm purely lamenting baselessly, you couldn't be more wrong! I have played Butterfly Staxx on many occasions, both with free spins and with my own deposits plus bonus money too, and guess what? After thousands of spins on the game, I have only managed to get about 6 or 7 Free Spins games in total, all of which paid blardy lowly of between 2x to 20x my staked amount, except for my last most recent play today, which gave me a miserable 64x win after playing the game for over 3 hours!

Wild do not come often, not sure why they are part of the slot anyway, since they do not have a pay value.

When the butterfly symbol appears stacked and covers a whole reel, you will trigger the re-spins feature All butterfly symbols fly to the leftmost position on the same row not occupied by butterfly symbol. They then remain in position until no more butterfly symbols lands on the reels.

The Butterfly spins feature which is played when 3 or more purple flower scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels. If you get 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbol you will be rewarded with 5, 6 or 7 spins respectively. During the feature, only cocoon symbols land on the reels. They can remain dormant or can become active. Active cocoon symbols landing on the reels which transform into butterfly symbol. The re-spins feature concept is in play here and wins are awarded on each spin. The sad thing about the feature is that you cannot retrigger it afterwards.

Sticky symbols are always welcome during features and shout big win. Look at DOA for an example. But if you have crappy pay tables that pays x12 or 15 your stake for 5 of a kind, then it might not be worth it. Let's also be honest, you must be one in a million to get a full screen of butterflies during free spins.

Honestly speaking, this Butterfly Staxx 2 game is better than the original Butterfly Staxx, and that 3 play screens can indeed produce some decent wins when the time is ripe. I say decent wins, simply because nice big wins are really a no-no in this game - there are no Win Multipliers, no Retriggers, and no big win values either!

e butterflies suddenly go missing off reels 3,4 and 5. So annoying. Then of course, the very next spins after the feature ends, reels 3,4 and 5 are stacked with butterflies. I also notice the wild goes missing during the feature.

The Scatters? Has anyone ever hit three of these? Has anyone actually seen the feature they lead to? I am not kidding here, but I have spun this slot a good few thousand spins and have not hit the feature once??? Why does it even exist?
