One of the most recent releases (May 18 2022) by Big Time Gaming (BTG), the Golden Catch slot game, deserves to be called the most finished and successful releases in the fishing theme. I will remind my readers that in these category there has been new additions as of October 2022: Big Bass Bonanza Keep it Reel (Pragmatic Play) and Boat Bonanza (PlaynGo) as well as Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Megaways (BluePrint).
The Golden Catch game embodies all the right and proper things about a fishing slot machine: good structure of display, clear and understandable mechanics, old and new features, and, most importantly, the balance of all things. From my experience the fishing themes slots are made for the older audience of slot players, that is 60 and onwards. I can hardly imagine a successful slot in this category that does something new or complicated.
Likewise, the Golden Catch slot has the above and underwater parts of the screen. The action goes both ways: the city view gives balance and the centre of perspective while sneaking boats will bring action too, because they bring in additional multipliers: they will multiply Fish Bonus Prizes by 10 (in the Free Spins game boat multipliers are unlimited). The ships would also drop anchors over the symbols and remove them while throwing in Fish Bonus Prizes.

When playing in the dark, the lighthouse will rotate the lantern and you'd occasionally see the warm rays of light too. The ships make woohoo sounds. Importantly, the amination is very quick. Ships snooze real fast and the whole feel of the game is such that it would not waste your time too...
The underwater worlds are very nice looking too, finished in green and blue. The 6x7 grid is easy to 'read' and follow. The low paying symbols are letters, while the higher ones are fish and wobblers, etc. The screen's backdrop is a shipwreck and some fish swimming right and left.
Max win is 31,430 tims of your bet. The RTP is 96.53%. Although declared as high, the game's volatility feels like medium, quite comfortable for this type of slot game. There are 117,649 ways to win (MegaWays).
Cascading reels (wins) mechanics has been so much internalised by BTG that it even goes without saying in this slot release too.
Interestingly, there is a Win Exchange™ feature where you can exchange a certain amount of winning for a chance to win a Free Spin Game. It is a kind of good old Gamble Feature started years ago by Novomatics, but it works surprisingly well here. Win Exchange™ will give additional dynamics and thrill to the game, while it is not something from the marketing world. I see this feature only as a way to bring in more thrill, not to make BTG more money.
