Does it look like a 21st century produced game? No, it doesn't at all! It still belongs to the 20th century, and that should sum up the status of how Rival games currently are! Rival software has been stagnant for many years, without any new progress, without any new improvements, and that is a real pity.

Poseidon is the Wild symbol in the game, paying a very nice 10,000x the line bet for getting 5 of them, but it only appears on reels 1, 2 and 3. It doubles all wins with it and substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol. Such a pity that the Wild symbols don't expand into full Wild Reels, since it only appears on 3 reels. Other non-Rival games would have full Wild Reels. The Giant Squid is the Scatter symbol, a dumb Scatter symbol, because it doesn't pay anything for itself. It appears only on reels 3, 4 and 5, triggering 9, 18 or 36 free spins without any multiplier. Argh! What a let-down! However, the Free Spins game can be retriggered, if that can do any good at all. The Shark pays 1250x, the Dolphin pays 1000x, the Queen pays 600x (what a huge let-down for being the Lady of the Ocean!), and the others pay from 500x to 75x, all per line bet for 5 of each kind. The Wild symbol has a very good win value, but all others are very low, so I'll rate the paytable as generally low.

I like it the most because of its graphics and animations mostly. This one is the one of the Rivals latest releases. While playing this terrific game you might feel Rival 'overloaded' this game with animations but they still look awesome. Then when you look at BIG WINS and Free Spins animations they used you could think its really too much and it is in my taste.

Poseidon itself acts like Wild symbol and substitutes for all symbols and doubling your wins. I couldn't even get a 3-of-a-kind win of the Wild symbol! If that's not enough, all the other payouts in the base game were very low too. But worse of all, in that 2 separate play sessions that I had on this Rise of Poseidon game, I couldn't even get 1 blardy lousy Free Spins game! That irritated me a lot, because it isn't a high variance game, the paytable is actually low, so there wasn't any good reason why it should play so badly! But it did, and it was a big disappointment for me, to say the very least.
