One thing is different and that’s the animation, cause items are not spinning they are falling down, it was interesting for a change.

After playing few slots before I entered Ice Picks I earned a nice amount of money and I entered relaxed I wanted to play a slot I didn’t tried before. As I was on a fire on other slots it continued on this one also.
As I usually play with the 1$ bet no matter how much I got on my balance, I played with that bet there also. It needed maybe 7-8 minutes for me to catch Bonus Round and win 43$. In Bonus Round you need to choose 5 or 6 I'm not sure, ice blocks, and there is a lot of them, and you to break them, each caries different amount of coins , I guess I had some luck on my first time.

Some time later I got wild symbol on the first and on the third reel and I won about 25$, after that, some time I was just hanging around with some small wins until I got 3 scatter icons which gave you 5 free spins with 3 x multiplier and on my fifth free spin I got into a bonus round and that was awesome cause I won 108$. After that won I played a little longer but it was enough for me to stop playing and ask for withdrawal. This slot is usuall for Rival gaming players but for me it will be special cause it made me happy at that time, I didn’t play this slot quite a long time now, after writing this and remembering nice memories I will for sure. I suggest you try it too.

The nice background image illustrates the entry of a mountain and because of the slot doesn’t use the traditional ‘spinning reels’ methods (rather has drop down symbol system) this nicely drawn picture is well visible at all times during the play session. So there’s no border lines between symbols and normally I don’t like this scheme but at Ice Picks its absolutely no bothering and the reel area doesn’t become a symbol cavalcade. The introduced figures are a little bit mixed as we play here with climbing gear as well treasures and even skulls and at first sight they may seem to be strange together but thanks to the great arrangements and the good quality of graphics, it’s all really enjoyable what players can see here so thumbs up to the creators for this.

Fortunately, the game segment itself also has some positives that I appreciate and take advantage. The most used such feature is the Ice Drop extra when the frozen objects (I mean not the climbing equipment emblems) form winning combinations, the participating figures disappear and all icons above them fall down one position giving another chance for good combination to be completed. Though the Wild only replaces other symbols in a winning formula without additional paying function and only can arrive on the first, middle and last reels but the Free Spin feature has x 3 win multiplying ability which can be really great some times. The feature triggering Scatter can give out 5, 10 or 25 free games and I’ve experienced that it’s really a plus thing of the game because it seems the wins (even if they’re not from the biggest ones) are more frequently occurred there. Sometimes just 5 spins are enough to collect around x 20-x 30 times of total bet so I think it is worth to wait for.

3 or more appearing Map icons on the table mean the player is awarded an entry to the bonus secondary game. Sadly it’s a very rare times triggering feature which is a shame because it very well reward players. The task is simple there we have to break ice cubes with ax and all broken ice reveal different kind of gems which later are converted into coins.
I wish I got chance to get to this side game because every time I was there my final won amounts were at least x 50 - x 60 times more than my total bet. True, the really great win has avoided me so far but somehow I could live without it if in return the Bonus more often occurred for me.

All in all, I believe this game is much better in every aspect than an average Rival game. Nice, new pictorial solutions and a very useful, sometimes very player friendly game features and an overall great, entertaining product are my thoughts about this game so if I’d send a message to the creators, it would be ‘Good job, keep going’.

The very occasional decent win could only come after long hours of play and only after numerous failed hopes, as I have unexpectedly found out!

The very simplistic looking Crate is the Wild symbol in Ice Picks, a non-paying symbol unfortunately, which doesn't even expand into a full Wild Reel with any win, but it does quadruple all wins with it in the base game, and multiplies 8x during the free spins! This is indeed a rarity in any of Rival games! The Compass is yet one more non-paying Scatter symbol, only serving to award 7, 15 or 30 free spins with 3, 4 or 5 Scatters. The free spins play without any other multipliers, except for wins with a Wild symbol, which are paid 8x. However, no retriggering of more free spins is possible, so this is very disappointing!

The Map is the Bonus symbol, paying 50x the total bet for getting 5 of them (2 Bonus symbols don't pay anything), and awards a Bonus Round with 3 or more Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels. In the bonus game, you have 5 Picks to break the Ice Cubes to win cash prizes from the various items collected. Once again, this bonus feature would usually pay consistently better than most of the Free Spins games could!

The other symbols in the game have rather low win values generally, but the highest paying symbol, the Chest, pays a decent 50x total bet amount for getting 5 of them, whilst the lowest symbol pays only 2.5x total bet. With only 50x bet being the best possible win value, this would hardly ever produce any big wins, even with that 8x multiplier during the free spins. In fact, from my several Free Spins games that I had played, I couldn't even get any 5-of-a-kind win! What those games paid me ranged from a big fat zero win up to about 10x wins most of the time, with only 1 win that paid me a nice 115x my bet amount. All others were simply disappointing!

Nonetheless, playing Ice Picks can provide some good extended playtime, and it doesn't glut down your credits as fast as some other Rival games could. I had a good time playing this game, enjoyed it, but was disappointed yet again with the hopelessness of its Free Spins games that seem to be a standard with almost all of Rival games!
