In my opinion, Quickspin's journey towards higher volatility actually started with "Bigbot Crew", but that's a different matter...

"Ivan & The Immortal King" has a 3x5/20 paylines layout, and its main attraction is a very well-thought-out - and thus entertaining - bonus feature. If you like bonus features like the ones in "Pink Elephants" or "Flame Busters" (both Thunderkick slots), you'll probably like this one too. Here, it's all about collecting coins to earn higher multipliers and extra spins. The ultimate goal is to reach the 20x multiplier and hit something decent.

The potential in the bonus is staggering, as it is possible to hit e.g. a full line of the top symbol (Ivan himself) with the 20x multiplier engaged. That would be a 2000x hit, if you should be lucky enough to land it.

The visuals and sound effects of "Ivan & The Immortal King" are great, and honestly, I wouldn't expect any less from a recent Quickspin slot. The theme of the slot is taken straight outta Slavic folklore, in this case the tale of young Ivan trying to defeat Koschei the Deathless, aka The Immortal King, who has kidnapped his beloved Maria. The witch Baba Yaga plays a part in this tale as well, as you'll find out when playing the slot.

"Ivan & The Immortal King" is a well-balanced compromise between potential and actually winning something decent once in a while. In my opinion, "Tiger's Glory", "Divine Dreams" and "Ticket To The Stars" can be a bit too brutal, while "Ivan..." has so far been treating me quite decent. Expect cold streaks though, as both the base game and the bonus are highly volatile.

Nonetheless, this game may be based on historical events, with Ivan fighting against the evil Immortal King (really?) Koschei, or maybe not at all, so pardon me if I got these things wrong, hehehe.

This game has nice graphics and is well presented, as with most other Quickspin games as well, and plays with the standard 20-paylines 0.20-bet-per-spin format, the kind that has always been my topmost preferred configuration. Quickspin games very seldomly have good paytables or win values for the symbols, and this Ivan game follows the same. Getting 5 Wilds or 5 Ivan symbols would pay a low 100x the total bet, but it’s still better than most other new games that would pay less, with a few games paying less than 10x even! Oh boy, I always keep my distance from such ridiculous peanuts-paying games, hahaha.

Both the Bonus Scatter and the Progress Scatter symbols are non-paying, which is not to my liking. The Free Spins feature game have either 10, 14 or 18 free spins, depending on the number of triggering Bonus Scatters, and the multipliers start from 1x, increasing up to 20x at the top sixth level game. Yeah, there are 6 levels to climb - getting 3 Progress Scatter symbols would advance the game to the next higher level, plus getting 4 more additional free spins. At level 6, you would have gotten 30 free spins in total, after which the feature game would end. Very simply put, if you cannot get to level 6, then you simply won’t get those huge wins.

There is also an interesting randomly activated special feature, called the Baba Yaga Surprise, which can be activated in both the base game as well as during the free spins. It is actually only from this feature that the Progress Scatter symbols can appear during the free spins, to go to higher levels, so if this witch Baba Yaga doesn’t appear many times to help you out, then sorry, you don’t stand any chance of a good win. Witches don’t always do good things, or help us out, do they? Ah, but anything can happen, and does happen, in games, hahaha .

In short, if you have good luck, or if that Baba really likes you, then you can expect a whale of a good time on this game. Otherwise, that Baba Yaga might imitate Lady Gaga instead and give you a bad romance! Hahaha.
