You just gotta love today’s cartoons, with all their healthy humour, great soundtracks, superior graphics and a host of movie stars bringing their characters to life. And if some of those stars are Johnny Depp and Alfred Molina, the movie’s bound to be a successful one, just like “Rango” was - a story about a pet chameleon with the smooth voice and comical potential of Johnny Depp proved to have all it takes to become viewers’ pet. It was such a smashing success, in fact, that Fast CPU has decided to turn it into an online slot, a title you’ll love if you were fond of the movie! ...

Imagine a city beyond the law, full of criminalist, where a sheriff is desperately needed to establish new order. One of those cities is Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West. Would you accept this challenge and play “Rango” slot in order to become a sheriff? If you think you won’t be able to do that, you’re completely wrong – if an ordinary chameleon was able to deal with all those obstacles, you can be a real savior for all browbeaten innocent people. ...

Well, the cartoon shows weren't that bad, but weren't that good either, and that Rango star was definitely not one of my favourite cartoon characters. I didn't see the actual movie where Rango became the town's sheriff, but I don't think I had missed anything that I would have loved. Hehehe.

A Rango slot game? Gees! I never would have thought that Rango the lizard, or chameleon, would ever make it to the gambling world, but there you go, anything that can happen in Hollywood, can happen in Slotswood too, hehehe. A brave attempt from iSoftBet no doubt, but I really don't think it took off with a blast. Hmm, a tiny firecracker blast maybe, because I've never seen this game becoming a hit anywhere in casinos. Too bad, but then again, the game's presentation, graphics, animations and sound didn't come up to the usual expectations anyway. Everything was mediocre at best.

Why? Consider this. 5 Wilds (the snake) pays only 150x the line bet! 5 scatters (Rango's sheriff badge) does better at 150x total bet, but every other symbols are just not worth winning for! This Rango game has a jackpot prize, yes, a jackpot, but the pooled amount hardly moves much, weekly or monthly, because the game is hardly played anywhere. The jackpot prize starts at $500 at $0.01 coin value and increases proportionately with every higher coin value. To win it, you must play with the maximum bet of 10 coins, which is $2.50 bet per spin at the $0.01 coin value. Is this worth it? Hmm, figure it out for yourself!

Nonetheless, not everything about Rango is bad. The 2 spins feature can be pretty good, activated whenever 2 Rangos appear on reel 1. All Rango and Wild icons become sticky for that 2 spins, and every new Rango or Wild icon that comes onto the reels in the next spin becomes sticky too. I've got quite a number of this 2-spins feature games, which at times would pay zero, but at other times could pay up to 15x my total bet. How much it can pay, I wouldn't know for sure, nothing is mentioned about it. From what I've experienced from the feature games so far, the 2-spins could actually pay better than the 10 free spins game, which tended to pay less than 10x total bet most of the time! No retriggers won so far either.

at progressives I do chase after are the ones more likely to be easily hit. For example Microgaming slot Mega Moolah has a random jackpot bonus that apparently is a piece of cake, much more than if I try to hit the progressives on Rango. In Rango, much of the effort is trying to hit 5 Jackpot Progressive symbols all of an active payline WHILE playing for Max bet. This is much harder than Mega Moolah. The way that Mega Moolah offers for jackpots is any bet can have a chance of triggering the Jackpot bonus wheel and it doesn't require all 5 progressive symbols! At least In Mega Moolah I would have even a slight bonus win compared to Rango where there are no consolation prizes to collect (I'm considering the mini in MM as a consolation). There are two free spin modes where the first consists of 10 Free spins with any Jackpot Rango badges anywhere.

Now don't get confused with the Jackpot Progressive symbols and the Jackpot Rango badges...they are all different from each other! Only difference is the progressive awards the jackpot after 5 symbols but overall is just a way to block my payouts....very useless....and the jackpot Rango badges are scatters towards 10 free spins! 3 are needed! In the 10 free spins there are same Jackpot Rango Badges that acts for multiplying wilds, 2x for 1 wild, 4x for 2 and 8x for 3 badges. The amounts for these that come for me are from $8 - $15 depending if these free spins are generous under my $0.75 and $1 bets! The last feature is a small respin for when 2 Rangos appear on the first reel. These guys keep the initial symbols as well as Wild snakes and more Rango character symbols held for a laughing out loud 2 free spins. It's more insulting than rewarding unless if I get VERY lucky enough on 2 free spins hahaha! All I have gotten mostly for these are less than $8.

It doesn't give me that big surprise I was hoping for. I wouldn't recommend this slot for it pays very close to my bets and I don't happen to come across any big wins so far! Rango sits at a 6.5 out of 10! The graphics and payouts could be better!

I must admit I had to google it first to find who Rango is and what he wants. Thus I found that Rango is a chameleon who rides on an ostrich, from a 2011 animated movie, whose characters live in the Wild West. The characters of the movie are present in this slot, and what makes me like them is that they pay substantially each time (almost equal to the total bet). Symbols pay even from 2 upwards. The Snake is Wild here and it makes a very good job. The wins are sufficient enough and also frequent, and at least in my case they were generally bigger than the total minimum bet (25cents/25 payline ), which provided me a few extra Euro (2-4) in the balance during the entire game .

Rango the chameleon, when it occurs 2 times on reel one, it triggers 2 Free spins (accompanied at the start by a short cartoon movie). In these 2 spins “Rango” and “Wild” symbols are held. It is true that once I won nothing but in rest every time I had a pretty nice win of 1-3 Euros in these 2 free spins.

There is also a separate round of 10 Free Spins triggered by the “Rango Sheriff Badges”, during which each Wild multiply the combination it enters with 2x . In addition, if you are very lucky and align 5 “Progressive jackpot” symbols, you will win this Jackpot, although its value is not very large.

My word against this slot is that the spins runs somewhat slower, but at least in my case, the slot did not eat any money in over 100 spins played here, which I liked. Probably a Bonus game and some added suspense would have made this slot to be really good.

Well, what more can I say about Rango? Nothing to shout about, nothing to be excited about either. Perhaps the only good thing about the game is the extended play time attainable playing with minimum bets. Play with higher bets and the lizard becomes a real pest...a Rango pest!
