Meet cheerful owls in the colorful forest of the What a Hoot game. This slot machine is one of Microgaming’s oldest animal slots. Released in 2004, it does not have any additional features, such as free spins or bonus games, but one can always enjoy frequent payouts with wild and scatter symbols. Moreover, the Max Win is 5,000 coins. ...

st paying 5 of a kind will pay a bit more than 500 x total bet, but i think it is too low for such slot that did not have any feature or multiplier.

Scatters here appear on all reels, but payout for 5 scatters is just 50 x total bet, seriously? On video slot without any feature or payout for 5 wilds you can give us only 50 x total bet for 5 scatters, oh god why? I tried this game only once at 32red casino, and i can be sure that i will never play it again, i think i can nominate this video slot to the worst microgaming game ever. I will not play it again like i already said, and i recommend you did not even download it, it did not worth your time or did not worth to even be downloaded, boring, surprisingly very boring.

Low variance 9 lines game, without any feature, bonus game, or anything extra, with no payouts for wilds, with low payout for 5 scatters and almost for all other symbols. I think this is enough to not play this game.

Probably the large symbols and the serene blue colour intrigued me. I cannot say the same for the sound effects. They were rather annoying so I had to lower the sound on my computer while I played this game.

Once I started playing the slot I was amazed of the wins that were coming on regular basis. It did not take me awhile to increase my balance. I had a really long session because the slot was more than generous to me. All the time I was getting five of a kind wins. The most that I have got during the base game was 30 x bet. I did not hit a colossal win, but still those small wins helped my balance which was slowly but surely increasing. I got 50 x bet only for 5 scatters. That happened only once, but I liked that there is a scatter payout. Even though they do not trigger some mini game they still have a function in this slot. And another good thing is that they appear very often on the reels.

The game itself is nothing special. It is very simple slot with no bonus round or free spins. I played the game on min bet though but at the end of my session I made a withdrawal of 200 euros. I have to say that the money were great and I had a really great gaming experience at the same time. I would warmly recommend this game to anyone. I know I had a great time while I played this slot.

felt really quite disappointed, it seems like every game I try these days from Microgaming is just a clone or copy of another machine I've already played but alas, What A Hoot is still a fun game when judged on it's own merits.

One thing I will say about this particular title is that it was much more kind to me than it's twins Vinyl Countdown and Lucky Twins - I had a 200x stake hit within my first 100 spins, which always helps you to grow a preference for one clone machine over another ;)

They look good, looking much better than most other games of the same age. However, that's about all that I can say about What A Hoot. Play wise and pay wise, it is not much different from the other 9 payliners. You either get a good win early on, or you end with nothing till the end, just like it did for me.

The Wild symbol is rather muted in appearance, looking dull and not as vibrant as it should be. It is a totally dumb Wild symbol that doesn't pay anything for itself, it doesn't double any wins with it, it doesn't become stacked or expanded, and all it does is to substitute for other symbols except the Scatter symbol. The Scatter symbol pays a very low 50x the total bet for getting 5 of them, but getting 3 or more of these Scatters don't trigger any free spins, because there aren't any free spins in this game. What a shame. The logo 'What A Hoot' pays 5000x, the Red Bird pays 600x, the Yellow Bird pays 500x, the Blue Bird pays 300x, the White Bird pays 250x, and the Fruits pay from 150x to 100x, all per line bet for getting 5 of each kind. A very low paytable for a 9-paylines game.

I like the size of even the small payouts if they actually hit, but other than that, I do not have much good to say about this game. I have never landed on 5 of a kind for What a Hoot, Brown Owl, Yellow, or Scatter. The closest I have come was 4 yellow Owls.

Anybody who does enjoy this game could also just choose to play the more recent "Lucky Twins" slot too, which has an identical paytable matched with a new symbol set and updated user interface, bringing the basic mechanics of this game bang up to date.

If you like nine line games and are happy with a maximum jackpot of 1,000x your stake then you might get a kick out of this game. I respect it as a decent effort for it's time, though I'm shocked to learn that even two decades ago Microgaming was already copying their games relentlessly, rebranding them and re-releasing instead of putting out brand new machines. I honestly thought it was a recent phenomenon as well!

I can't believe that any normal player may even want to give this game a try, except for giving it a few spins. At $2.25 a spin, I gave What A Hoot just 10 spins to see how it would play and pay. And guess what, not one single spin paid anything! What a blardy money-eating game it turned out to be! Just like most of the other 9-paylines Microgaming games too, and I really hate them!

I haven't actually been counting until about 2 months ago, and started counting What A Hoot about 1 month ago. I have spun at $4.50 2000 times at at $9.00 1000 times. That is a run through of $19,000. I generally play in spin cycles of 100, 200, 300, and 400. Of course, if I were to hit a 5 of a kind on any substantial payout, I would play out the current cycle, log my notes and either stop for a while or go to another game. In all honesty, if I was paid out 1/3 of the $19,000, I still may be exaggerating to the upside. It is difficult to judge payout on limited spins, so I try not to make judgement based on small numbers of spins, choosing to wait until I have at least 2000 or more in.

I do not like the music.

I dislike that there is no feature or bonus. Considering it's a 9 line game, it is sadly omitting a couple features that would make a 9 line game far more enticing.

I do not like the jump from $4.50 to $9.00 wagers. I think $4.50 is too low and generally like to start at $6.00 - $7.50 for games. I rarely go higher unless it's a re=spin game where the sky is the limit.
